I am usually someone who wears pink exclusively on my nails (in whichever shade I can get my hands on), and I do sometimes find it hard to be drawn to any other colour than pink, something that I am trying to become a little more adventurous in - maybe until the summer season at least! :-)
But with this in mind I went on the search for something that I wanted to make my winter nail colour and a shade that would work day or night. This is where I stumbled across in the beauty aisles of Tesco, in the Sleek make up section (which I have to admit is one of my favourite sections), a colour called Purplesque!
I have been a fan of the Sleek makeup brand for a while, however I had been yet to try any of their nail polishes before. Sleek as a brand I feel create a great balance between the quality of the product vs its competitive pricing, and so far I had not been disappointed by anything I have tried from them.
I would defy anyone not to like the small but elegant, and let's face it - 'sleek' packaging!
I am sometimes a bit wary about polishes that are in small bottles as I can't help but think sometimes that the brush quality etc can sometimes be compromised. But this is certainly not the case with this polish!
The polish itself glides on effortlessly to the nail, giving good coverage even on the first coat, there's nothing like finding a shade of polish you love, only to find the formula is not quite what you expected, but I definitely believe that no manicure is complete without 2 coats :-) Sleek describe the colour of the polish as being a 'rosy raspberry hue'. To me I would say the colour reflects a mid toned burgundy, with a hint of raspberry. As raspberry makes me think I'm reverting back to the pinker shades again!
The brush splays out nicely to ensure that you get maximum coverage without many strokes, and I have to say for a darker nail colour, still maintains a nice glossy finish to the nail even before a top coat.
The polish in my opinion dries fairly quickly with 2 coats, a top and base coat, which is always great if you are in a bit of a hurry, and on the Sleek website the formula is marketed as being quick drying, so I can definitely vouch for that claim! Generally speaking I would say I get a good 5 or so days solid wear out of this polish before I need to change over, but like any polish if your hands do take a lot of daily wear and tear, it's always likely you may get the odd little chip here and there. But for a high street product, its quality, overall look and design certainly meet my expectations.
I really don't think you can go wrong for £2.99, the bottle contains 7ml of product and I really think a little goes a long way as you do get such good coverage.
I would be interested to know if any of you have too tried out the Purplesque shade or any other of the Sleek nail polishes, and what are your thoughts on them? Or can you recommend any other great winter nail colours?
